What Causes Trembling In Hands?

Yes. Thanks. I am researching symptoms that my Mom is having. She is upper 80s in age and has recently developed quite pronounced trembling with her hands and she even feels the trembling in her body as well. Her hands tremble so badly that she cannot write checks, etc, very well. Any idea what might be causing this?
