What Causes Uncontrollable Bowel Movements And Excess Flatulence?

Hello, I am a 51-year old female and I ve been experiencing bowel movements that I can t control. I end up soiling my underwear as I can t make it to the toilet in time. I also have a lot of gas. My doctor recommended a colonscopy and I was not able to do one as I got very sick in preparation for it. I also have pencil thin stools. No blood that I can see. Should I be concerned?
