What Causes Vaginal Bleeding Between Periods?

I recently stopped my birth control and about a week later I got a normal period (for me). I had unprotected sex when I would have been ovulating. About 6 days later I started bleeding again (7-8 days before my projected period date) but it was very light and only lasted for about 2 days. What could this be?
