What Causes Vaginal Bleeding During Intercourse?

I have never bled during sex until I started dating this guy that was larger than normal..so I don't think it's a problem with me. Could it just be because of his size? I don't want to have to spend money on a doctor because I am a single mom with three kids and no insurance.
