What Causes Vaginal Dryness After Removing Copper IUD?

Help! I had my copper IUD removed a week ago and i have missed my period, which was due yesterday. I was told by the doctor, who removed it, that pus came out as he removed it. He had this tested and said, there was nothing to worry about, that my body just did'nt like the IUD. Since the removal, i have been having vaginal dryness and now a missed period. What could be happening?
