What Causes Vaginal Dryness?

Hello, im having problems getting wet and i would like to know what could be causing this, i am attracted to my boyfriend but i find iy really painful and its causing a problem know my sex life. Do you know why this could be? I am on the pill and other tablets could this cause problems? Thankyou
