What Causes Vaginal Itching?

Yesterday morning I noticed while I was wiping myself (after peeing) that my vagina felt unusually itchy but only when I touched it with the tissue. Last night I had a look at it and it was quite red around the hole at the back but im a virgin so I have no idea what it could be. I put some vaseline cream on it but im not sure if it helps
