What Causes Vaginal Spotting After Having Depo Shot?

Today I went to the bathroom and had pinkish discharge in my panties. I have had some vaginal pain but I chalked that up with trying a new spinning class. I just received my depo shot a week ago Monday. I haven't had sex since November. What could this be?
