What Causes Visible Blood In Urine?

My elderly mother, 92, suddenly developed blood in the urine. Bright red blood can be seen when she wipes herself after urinating and there is visible blood in the urine. She had a urinalysis done and it was negative for bacteria but there were higher leucocytes. She recently had an abdominal catscan after a fall and nothing was detected there. What could it be?
