What Causes Vomiting And Stomach Pain?

Hi. My three year old had horrible stomach pains on Friday, to the point he was crying and writhing on the couch, but went away after 25 minutes. No fever and no throwing up. He had an episode again on Tuesday and this time did throw up twice over course of three hours. Ate and drink a little bit today and played normally. Just now he woke up in bed throwing up again. Is this just a virus?
