What Causes Wart Type On The Ball Of Foot?

I have these callous/wart type things on the ball of my right foot. I stepped on a pencil point about 8 years ago. It healed a little funny, almost like a tiny little hole. The skin around it was tough and white. now 8 years later, it is about the size of a pea. It is not a bump really, as I would think a wart is. Instead, it is sort of like a crater. There is a hard circle of skin and then it is lower in the center. There are also smaller ones forming above it that look like a scraped little holes into my foot. I am not sure what they are. They hurt if I push on them and especially hurt if I squeeze the hard skin into the center. I have attatched links to pictures of them. Can anybody tell me what they are?

Thanks!
