What Causes Weight Gain After Lantus Insulin Withdrawal?

I have recently stopped taking Lantus insulin as my type 2 diabetes is so well controlled by my diet and weight loss. I am now finding it very difficult to lose more weight and have actually gained the last couple of weeks since stopping the insulin, I would like to know if this weight gain and problems with losing more has anything to do with the stop of insulin.
