What Causes Weight Gain And Itchy Stomach?

So I ve been loosing control of my eating and gaining some weight and my stomach feels itchy on the surface of my skin. Is it because of gaining weight that my stomach is stretching and is very itchy or is my stomach just itchy because it s winter and my skin is dry?
