What Causes Weight Gain While Having Hyperthyroid And Heart Palpitation?

I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroid problem. I do not take any medication nor do I drink very often. ( One half glass about every 6 weeks ). Non smoker. I wonder why I am gaining weight and not losing it like google says. Yes I have anxiety, night sweats, palpitating heart beat - too fast for my liking, some chest pain etc.
