What Causes Wet Cough After An Accident Trauma?

I was in a front impact car accident yesterday causing my chest to slam into the steering wheel. I have some aches and pains in my chest and back but have developed a wet cough. I expected the aches but am wondering where the cough came from and if I should see a doctor.
