What Causes White Spots On The Nail?

Hello Dr.

I have a son, who is 2yrs and 4 mths old. He normally gets white patches on his nails. I have noticed that when I gave him Zinc syrup, the spots got vanished, but they return when we stop giving him syrup.

could u pls. advice?
