What Causes Worsening Of Pain In Knee During Winters?

I m a 41 year old female. For the last 2 years I ve been experiencing pain starting from my knees and it goes up about 5 inches. When it first started it only seemed like it went from my knees up to 2 inches. I thought maybe it worsened when it was colder but it seems more then that. I was trying to kinda massage where it hurts and it feels lumpy like waves. Weird I know. Please, any possible info would be greatly appreciated. Also, I m experiencing the pain in both legs and never had injuries.
