What Could A Lump On Vagina Be?

I am 21 years old, have only had one sexual relationship a few years ago now...about 10months ago i noticed a pinky/white lump hanging from my vaginal opening, i cant feel anything in it if i touch it or squeeze it, i would sy it is about 1.5cm long, i dont have periods as i am underweight but i feel as though it would make using tampons difficult and i am too embrassed to have sex because of it. what could it be? i went to the drs when i first noticed it she didnt say a lot just said it was excess skin or something, but it is a long lump not excess skin.
