What Could Ammonia Smelling Emotional Tears Indicate?

Hello, I m a 62 yr old woman and for the past 5 years, whenever I cry I smell ammonia. Only emotional tears, not tired tears. What does this mean? I ve had Hep-C for many years, but am asymptomatic. ps: If this costs $ I can t afford it.
