What Could Brown Discharge With Sore Breasts Suggest?

Hi im 20 years old and i usually have a normal period, although this month about a week before my period was due i started getting brown discharge and about 3 weeks before i started getting sore breasts. I am sexually active but we always use protection. I am not sure what is wrong?
