What Could Cause An Elderly Woman To Bleed For 3 Days And Pass A Bloody Clot Or Tissue-like Tube?

My 75 yr old mother has been bleeding for about 3 days. Today she passed what looks to be like a possible 4" bloody looking tube or blood clot. I can't get her to go to the dr. She says that the bleeding has almost completely stopped now. What could this possibly be?
