What Could Cause Menstrual Irregularity?

i have jsut came off the pill (microgynon 30) i stopped taken it in january 2011 and had like normal a withdraw peroid on the 18th Jan. me and my husband are trying to have a baby and we have been having unprotected sex since the 18th Jan. i took a pregnany test last thursday but it was negative was i too early? i have been feeling abit sick but no other symptoms... will i have to wait for my peroid to come natuarlly? how long does this take?
