What Could Cause Red Spot On Thigh?

I have a very large red spot on top portion of my thigh, its very hot to touch and feels like its burning. Especially when touched. The red area is over an inch long and almost an inch or so wide. It looked like an ingrown hair. It also has a black and blue look to it on the top. What could this be?
