What Could Cause Shooting Pain Behind Ears Suggest?

i have severe shooting pain behind my ear going to about the middle of my skull. I have been on pain medicine and muscle relaxer and it is not helping. Ihave been told that my ears are impecabe, so no ear infection, no fever either. What could this possiby be. I cannot stand the shooting pain as it makes me tighten up causing headache. This has been 6 days today.
