What Could Constant Itchy Ears Suggest?

For over year now I have had this strange itchy/tingly feeling just inside my ear. It's feels like someone puts a feather just inside my ear and is tickling it. Just under the skin though. Yet when I stick my finger in there to itch it I get no relief. There is no rash, no sign of anything. Oddly though, when I first started noticing it, I was sitting at my computer. For months, that would be the only time it would happen. Now I don't think there is anything that triggers it? Sometimes in my car, and sometimes when I am on my laptop, but there are other times where there is nothing that triggers it. The other day I wanted to cut my ear off as it was bothering me so much. This is odd, any idea what it could be and cure?
