What Could Inflamed Tonsil With Throat Pain Suggest?

hi im a 20 year old male and since the past 3 or 4 days i having throat pains and inflammation of tonsils causing pain while swallowing and even speaking at times i just started smoking regularly since the past 3 months and drinking alcohol and i have to attend conferences in which me and my team have to shout a lot... i dont have any problems with my voice but all the pain seems to be in the tonsils should i be worried about something serious ?
