What Could Numb To Touch Black Bruises On Back And Abdomen Indicate?

My husband thought he was getting Shingles on his abdomen three weeks ago. He had tingling and itching and burning from the lower left abdomen across to his back. He went to our doc and he didn t think it was shingles, and it never manifested itself. However, the line of pain has stayed with my husband and is one numb to the touch on the abdomen and this past Monday, a bruise developed (a little bigger than a silver dollar). It s a black bruise. He also has a smaller bruise on his back where the initial pain stopped. Do you have any ideas on what the cause may be?
