What Could Pain In Cervix With Brownish Discharge Suggest?

Hello. I am 49 years old and had a physical four days ago. The doctor told me that there was a fair bit irritation on my cervix from a polyp. He said he would apply silver nitrate to the irritated area which would help it to heal. I bleed alot the first day and now have a brownish discharge and bleed when going to the bathroom. Is this normal?
