What Could Pain With Pins And Needles In Thumb After Being In Plaster For Broken Scaphoid Indicate?

Broken scaphoid 8 weeks ago. 1 week with back slab cast as no break showed in initial X-ray. 7 weeks in plaster. Still a lot of pain. Got another appt. in a week. Have been told if not healed by then will have to start talking surgery. Last 2 days started getting non-stop pins and needles in thumb. Should I wait for my appt to talk to specialist or should I go to docs ASAP? Thank you
