What Could Sharp Pain In Areola Of Breast Suggest?

I am having a sharp pain in my areola of left breast. I am 68 yr old. It is not constant but if I touch the area or brush up against something it occurs. Nothing is visible. Feels like it is just under the skin about the size of a quarter in sensitiveness. Almost stings like a cut.
