What Could Sore Throat With Thick Mucus Stuck In Sinus Indicate?

I have a sore throat, and this morning had this thick/chunky mucous that sat in the back of my sinus where it drains into my throat. Had to hack it up and it was orange/yellow/red. I feel like I have to cough something up but there's nothing i can cough up. I've also been having a thick green/yellow mucous drainage all day and it feels like something is constantly in my throat. I still have my tonsils.
