What Could Spots On Body In Elderly Woman Suggest?

Hi my mum is 53 she had come up with spots on her body and marks like bruises which are painful she has seen a few doc's, the latest on has told her its Lupus not sure of the spelling, but they are not sure any ideas? thank u oh they started off on her legs but now have moved onto her tummy and arms its kind of like u have been burnt
