What Could The "something" On The Cervix Be?

hi I'm 31, 11stone and bout 5f 6, ive just come back from having a smear test performed, the nurse struggled to find a clear view of my cervix and ended up calling in a doctor to repeat the proceedure. She said she could see something on my cervix and would need extra swobs taken and go back in a week for results? Could she be suggesting I have an STI? I had a termination about three months ago to which all seemed to be fine since, but could this be linked in anyway to whats going on? I'm so worried?
