What Could The Red Bump On Lower Lip Be?

An object hit me hard on the mouth 2 years ago, a red bump appeared and stayed on my lower lip which tends to inflame when it is warm. I went to the Dr. he stated it was a broken blood vessel due to trauma. I have become very self conscious, can i get it removed.
