What Do Freckles During Routine PAP Smear Test Indicate?

Was asked by my primary MD if I knew I had freckles during routine PAP smear. Was told I was to see GYN & EXPECT to have biopsy. Is this routine? I have never "exposed" myself to sun, nor have I been sexually active for 4 yrs. (Am a 55yr old woman) Any help to alleviate my concern is appreciated.
