What Does A Bloody Mass Discharge From Nose Indicate?

Hi, 3 days ago I had a really high temperature accompanied by thick mucus blocking my nose. Today as I was driving, I felt the need to blow my nose and out came a blood covered mass about the side of a large peanut. As I got home no more than 5 minutes later, I looked as the mass that had come out of my nose and found it to be fibrous and strong. What was it?
