What Does A Lump In The Groin Area Indicate?

I am a 25 year old female and had an abscess in my groin a few years ago which left a bluish purple ...what I thought was a scar. It hurts to the touch, and today I noticed it was scabbed over... and the scab broke and it bled but there was a lump under as if it was an exposed blood vessel. Is that what it could be? I know I should get it checked out, but I'm not sure if I should wait for an appointment.
