What Does A Small Lump Above Windpipe Indicate?

Hello I have a small lump at the base of my throat just above my windpipe. It is tender to touch and when I first noticed it I felt like I had sore muscles in my neck. It does bother me if I sleep on my right side. My throat is not sore but my voice is a bit hoarse
