What Does Atherosclerosis Of The Aorta Mean?

What is atherosclerosis of the aorta? I had a CT w/contrast done on my lower abdomen and pelvis looking for possible diverticulitis. The report was negative for that. But it did note that there was mild atherosclerosis of the aorta with no aneurysm. Can you help explain this to me? Thanks, Peggy
