What Does Black Stool After Alcohol Intake Indicate?

My boyfriend went to a friends birthday party and drank a lot. The next couple of days he has black stools. Was wondering if it could be a sign of problems with his pancreas. He is 49yrs old and has been a beer and hard alcohol drinker for years. He drinks 4-8 drinks twice a week some weeks, though mostly once a week.
