What Does Bleeding While Flossing Indicate?

Hello Dr., I am a 43 yr old white male, relatively healthy (5'10''/155lbs). I am concerned about something happening to my gums, not near my tooth-line but where my gums connect with my face/lips. I have lost some weight in my face and this pocket area is getting deeper and deeper, i.e. deeper into/under my nose and cheeks. Is this normal (age related) or is it a sign of something else? My teeth are very healthy but I do get some bleeding sometimes when flossing. I also have several teas a day with brown cane sugar.
