What Does Blood Or Fluid In Cavity Mean In Transvaginal Ultrasound?

I had an transvaginal ultrasound this week and the person doing the scan said that there was blood or fluid in a cavity. She was then very careful about what she said to me and now I am very worried. I have to wait quite a long time for the results. What might this mean?
