What Does Breathlessness, Cough And Difficulty Swallowing Despite Tonsils Removal Indicate?

Hi, I've been really run down all week with a cold... but in the last few days, its turned worse. I barely have any energy and I've developed what is like a croup cough. Its difficult to swallow and breathe. I know i dont have tonsillitis because I had them removed last year. I'm getting out of breath just walking up the stairs and its tight on my chest when i cough. Any ideas?
