What Does Diastolic Blood Pressure Of 42 Indicate?

My Dad has just undergone a Sextuple bypass and has been home for 5 days now. He uses a Omron blood pressure cuff to monitor his blood pressure and is concerned that his diastolic reads a 42. Second reading and third reading were in the mid 50s. Should we be notifying his doctor?
