What Does Flu Like Symptoms With Negative Result In Flu Test Suggest?

I went to the dr with flu like symptoms today. They did a rapid step and flu test which came back negative. They believe i still may have either and are going to culture it longer. Another thought was that i may have mono. I have had it previously and was told i could get it again. I feel terrible with a fever over 100 and a hear rate of 105. I have midterms this weekand was wondering if you could give me advice as to whether i should go to school. My dr said not to but i took my exams with mono before and was willing to suffer through it again. Is there any way to reduce the severity and get over this faster?
