What Does Fusion Of The Two Kidney Poles In IVP Report Suggest?

hello doctor, my elder is having problem in his kidney. he got very high pain in lower abdomen 20 days back. we consulted doctor and he adviced us to go for IVP test for him .in ivp report it is given that everything is ok except two polesof kidney which are fused. what does it mean? is it very serious? what is your own advice regarding this?
