What Does High WBC And Mono Levels From Blood Test Indicate?

Hello! My husband just had blood work done and his white blood cell count was high. They ha him redo it and it is again high. The mono levels were slightly high with a reading of 14.3. They want him to come next month for more blood work. He was wondering what could be the cause for this and is this something that could be serious?
