What Does High Blood Glucose After Suffering Stroke Indicate?

My mother recently had a stroke and again yesterday. She was found on the floor by my daughter and I told her to take her vitals... her glucose was 249 and I told my daughter to admin 40 units of insulin. They took her to the hospital. My moms said her takes 40 units daily and her glucose is always in the 200's. I told her she need to have her doctor re evaluate that because it should be no more that 120 in am and 140 in pm. I was recently diagnostic with DB in Nov 2013 with glucose 858 n A1c 11.9 by March 2013 I was off insulin and put on 2 pills 500mg daily now I on 1 pill with glucose 90 - 138 and A1c 6.5. My question is should she increase her insulin 2x/day
