What Does Inflamed Small Spot Near Ear Indicate?

For the past 3 or so months I have suffered from small spots and inflamed skin firstly in the outer right ear then progressing behind the ear. It is now very inflamed and sore, especially behind the ear. I am a 48 year old female, 160m and weigh approximately 9st.10lb.
