What Does Itchy Dry Spot Between Thighs And Vagina Indicate?

I have an itchy dry spot in the crease between my thigh and vagina. .it inches so bad it's become like raw and painful. The doctor has told me before it's not like an std and to use like unscented soap..it comes and goes but recently it's been there for a while now. Is there something I can do do get rid of this?
